I am Denver Colorado Magician Connie Elstun a specialist in kids party entertainment. This is my story.
If you are reading this then you are someone who wants to know how
a perfectly sane individual such as myself could write a show that stars tiny
furry creatures and perform it for 26 years of my life in order to enhance the
lives of children with laughter, love and magic. In this, the beginning of my
27th year, I welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best
service in my industry. I love the opportunity to tell People about myself as I
am a unique individual. I am a Professional Performing Arts Educator,
a Professional Children's Entertainer, a Magic Magician, an animal husbandry
enthusiast, an Artist, a Published Writer along with being a dedicated Mom and
Grandmother. My formal title as an Educator is a "Performing Arts Integration Specialist". Not only am I a unique female Magician, I am a published Author and a Teacher to boot. I have
written and developed the first nationally recognized educational magic program
to make it into the National Endowment for the Arts registry. Some of my
best undertakings and projects have been instilling an interest of creativity
and gratitude for the Performing Arts into my outreach Students by teaching them the
skill of performing Magic. As a Teacher, I feel the betterment of my Students has also become the
betterment of Myself. I am a Denver Colorado native, born to a teenage Mother. I was adopted by a wonderful fellow who was Pharmacist and well loved prominent business man in the Highlands Neighborhood of Denver in the 1950's. As his business expanded we moved to the Bear Valley neighborhood in Southwest Denver where I attended Denver Public School's Doull Elementary, Kunsmiller Junior High School and Abraham Lincoln High School where I graduated in 1977. After my adopted Father passed away in 1976 I finished High School and attended ACC Community College in Littleton Colorado to receive my Associates in Education all on my own resources. In 1978 I became a Print Model for the esteemed J. F. Images talent agency in Denver. My first lucky break was being promoted as Coors advertised Silver Bullet Girl. My second was becoming a member of the "No Walls" Improv Theatre Company. I was able to finish my Education by attending MSU-DS and CU mutually with a B.A. Major in Theatre and Minor in Child Psychology and Development. Knowledge well obtained, as I was able to raise a child too. My early days of performing came with an invitation to be a spokesmodel for Manna Pro Feed and then shortly after an Educational Spokesmodel for Hooked on Phonics. That is where I learned to build my "Bunny and Birdie Comedy Magic Show". Magic drew attention to my pitch but not nearly as much as a charming fluffy bunny on my sales table! In the summer of 1995 I was booked to work for Elitch Gardens in Denver as a Children's entertainer on the Kid's Stage in their brand new park. Every August I lament for the best of the good old days. I spent 10 years of my performing life (97-07) performing at the Snowmass/Aspen Children's festival later to be called the SnowMagical festival on the mall in Snowmass Village Colorado. I am grateful to list some of the world's greatest Magicians and Performers on my Mentor list. Atop that list sits my friend and Mentor Master Magician Doc Eason who was responsible for including me in the festivals. My journey has always been magical. My friends are magic and so is my family. I married my #1 competitor The Amazing Dave Elstun in 1997 creating our Business the bundle of joy that we call Elstun Magic Productions Inc. We took on the challenge to begin our marriage as single parents combining our families but also our business life. Amazing Dave Elstun has been a long time Colorado Magic Man.
Well known for his portrayal of Magic Mr. Money as the Mascot for the Lodge
Casino in Blackhawk Colorado and as a Comedy Actor and house Magician at
the Lumber Baron Inn and Gardens where he is beginning his 7th season. Dave's
days as a Street Performer in Boulder Colorado brought him into my life as I was
trying to set him up with a friend of mine but little did I know he would be the
one for me! We have been married for 18 years now and live a blessed magic life with our Corgi Madeleine and our Rescue dog kid Phinn at our home that our friend's call "The house that Magic built". Horses, Hiking and History are my hobbies and I always enjoy a good ghost hunting adventure too. I am blessed to be able to use them all in one form or another by professionally writing and teaching a History of Magic Class and a
Colorado Pioneer Historical reenactment as a collaboration
with The Arvada Center of Performing Arts where I also teach STEAM Magic, Comedy
and Creative Dramatics. I started Teaching with the Esteemed Arvada Center's
Arts Day Educational programming in 1998 and still do today. Loving every
minute of it! It has been an incredible life so far! I can't wait to
see what comes next. My future holds continued performances with an emphasis on
Educational Entertainment. Of course I still love performing for a good old
fashioned birthday party as much as I love an auditorium filled with 300. I
plan to continue Writing and to become a semi-retired Teacher soon. I save most
of my free time for my beloved Family. My Granddaughter is a creative kid and
she loves to spend time helping me care for the smallest members of my family
and my Grandson is a fantastic Athlete and Football player for his High School.
Life is what you want it to be, so always picture the
My favorite Photos of some very special times.
My Family and I posing with my favorite Performer in the World! My friend and personal hero Tosca Zoppe' of the Zoppe' Family Circus at the WinterPark resort Labor Day weekend 2013.
Later Tosca let me ride her horse. I will never forget.
I enjoyed the company of my friends Carol and Joe Givan the owners of the Magic Theatre of Dreams in Castlerock Colorado after our mutual friend Marc Salem performed his mentalism show for a packed house.
Nothing says friendship better than going out after a show. Here I am with long time magic buddy Eddie Goldstein sharing camaraderie with his Videographer Musa, My Son Daryl and Dave.
In every great life story there is a BFF. My friend Chad Wonder has fulfilled that role for me. We have had more memories together than I could possible post here but the next three photos will have to do.
Chad let me help him out at his Dealer's table at the very last Magic in the Rockies Convention in Ft. Collins Colorado. Chad served as my Vice President during my Presidency for the Mile High Magicians Society and I served as his secretary during his reign. Those are times I will never forget.
Here we are standing in front of Chad's Magic curtain with Steve Spangler and and other club friends.
The three amigos aka Chad Wonder, Amazing Dave and Myself went to Vegas to accept an award on behalf of our Mile High Magician Society and on our way we posed with world famous Master Magician Teller. Probably my favorite moment from those days was meeting a legend, my Idol Rudy Coby. I was able to watch him perform live with Dan Speery and thanks to Chad, having my picture taken with a legend was priceless.
Every once in awhile the great Nathan Kranzo graces Colorado with his Magic and his Comedy. Here we are kidding around for this photograph.
With my Son Daryl and one of the most creative Magicians in the world Dan Speery.
I must say after all is said and done my
memories will include the ones that stayed by my side throughout it all. It
breaks my heart to lose a close friend and no one has been closer to me than my
tiny partners in this magic life. My words will continue to thank them into
eternity. In memory of Sugs, I acknowledge and recognize the true love and friendship offered to me in his 16 years of being my magic dove.
Melinda was one of the best magic rabbits a Magician could ever have. She was a constant companion, fellow performer and friend. May we meet someday in another magic life. Namaste little one. To you Melinda and to Wanda, Doolittle, Busker, Lady Penelope, Majyk, Rio, Blythe and all the rest who have served as my loyal assistants for the last 30 years. I love you all dearly.
And in loving memory of my dear sweet Paddy O'Hare and his 9 years he spent bringing joy and wonder to a multitude of smiling children including me. I thank you.
