Let's talk Oscars 2016

Let's talk Oscars 2016.

First of all I am not siding with the Black Out for the same reason I don't side with giving Lady Magicians special attention when it's not earned.  The only thing that tactic breeds is mediocrity.  With that said, I am glad to see Chris Rock who is on top of his game as a current Comedian be our host.  No need to say Black as he has mastered his art with no "race card" used.

All of this year's film nominees were challenging to see.  Three were main stream, two had made it to rental but the rest were art house.  I have decided that is where I will boycott.  I will not pay triple the amount to sit in a less than stellar environment with a filthy screen and broken uncomfortable seating to view my films.  I would prefer not to see them.  We need better Art House viewing choices Denver!

I thought there was great diversity for the best picture nominees with no clear cut winner.  My choice was made with my own personal taste and I would have ranked them as follows: The Revenant, The Martian, Mad Max Fury Road, The Big Short, Spotlight, Room, Bridge of Spies and Brooklyn.

My 18 predictions of the 24 awards:

Film- The Revenant
(An outstanding Mocho Epic! FYI for the first time in a long time the academy has a majority of over 50 white males in its demographic)

Actor- Leonardo DiCaprio (Leo was dynamic in Revenant and deserves this award!)

Actress- a Brie sweep for Room

Sup. Actor- Sly- Creed  (However, if Sly gets the shaft and Mark Ruffalo wins, Spotlight might be a spoiler)

Sup. Actress- Jennifer J Leigh- the Hateful 8

Director- Alejandro González Iñárritu for the Revenant
( He deserves it. However, I'm not sure the academy will give back to back oscars as they have robbed worthy candidates in the past for the same reason.  I would like to see George Miller win for Mad Max too. )

Cinematography- The Hateful  8

Original Score- The Hateful 8

Doc. Feature- Amy (about Amy Winehouse's spiral)

Adapted Screenplay-The Martian

Original Screenplay-Spotlight

Visual effects-The Revenant

Sound mixing-The Revenant

Foreign Language-Son of Saul

Animated Feature- Shawn the Sheep Movie

Production design- Mad Max

Best song- Lady Gaga Til' it happens to you from The Hunting ground

Makeup and Hair Styling- The Revenant
